Imani Thomas is an upcoming model from Philadelphia, PA. She has always been interested in modeling. While other little girls wanted to be a beautiful princess like Cinderella, she dreamed of walking the runways of London, Paris, and Milan like Naomi Campbell. Imani officially started modeling at the age of 15. She has done shows as small as local neighborhood gigs to big shows like New York Fashion Week. She booked shows and shoots all throughout high school where in her yearbook was voted most likely to be succeed and most likely to be famous.
After graduating from high school, she had trouble picking a major. She went from thinking about fashion merchandising to early childhood education. Torn between two things she loved, fashion and children, she decided to go to Millersville university ,major undeclared. It wasn’t until she presented her first speech that she knew she was good at public speaking. One of her favorite professors gave her advice her sophomore year which she then declared a major in Communications with a concentration in broadcasting.
Throughout her journey between work and school it became difficult to make time for shows and shoots. She became more focused on school resulting in receiving the Hazel I Jackson scholarship award which was one of her biggest accomplishments. Imani had the honor of introducing author Terry McMillan at the awards ceremony. She also got an internship at wired 96.5 and 92.5 XTU her junior year. Imani enjoyed radio but love TV even more. Not only does she love being I front of the camera but obtains many skills and expertise behind the scenes.
You would be surprised to find she also played rugby for the university. A pretty girl on the runway but a beast in the field. To help support her team she entered the Miss Millersvillle pageant an her senior year and became the first African American woman to win the title. For the competition, she came up with a modeling routine mixed with dancing and vouging to a hot mix in 6 inch heels. The judges were stunned with her creativity and energetic performance. It was new to them but perfectly normal for her. Imani graduated Millersville in 2014 with lots or memories and accomplishments.
Her future goals include focusing on her broadcasting career with hopes of becoming a TV host. She also plans to make a big comeback on the runway. Keep an eye out! Where will you see her next?
